Hi everyone – Looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting on Wednesday December 6th at 6:30pm at our Eastside location – Developmental Disabilities Assn’s (DDA) Kaslo hub.

We are extremely lucky to be pairing with DDA (Developmental Disabilities Assn) in presenting this workshop. Their behavioural services coordinator, Ryan Bazylak, will be providing a behavioural science overview for families who are working through various behavioural challenges.
Please come prepared with situations about which you are willing to ask questions and share information in a non-recorded but public forum. Ryan will field questions and brief discussions with the intention of pointing you in the right direction to more effectively coordinate support for your loved ones.

Next Meeting November 4th 2017

It was very good to see so many new faces at our first meeting on Wednesday October 4th at our Kaslo location. Our next meeting is on Saturday November 4th at 10:30am. We will have a representative from Community Living BC (CLBC) come and talk to us about eligibility and the request for services process. The meeting will be at our Westside location at Vancouver Resource Society on west 10th. Hope to see you there.

End of Year Party June 10, 2017

The last meeting of our season will be on Saturday June 10th, 2017 at our Westside location at Vancouver Resource Society,  2006 West 10th Avenue, at 10:30am

We will be celebrating our new graduates and also be covering various summer programs. See you at 10:30am on 10th June

Next Meeting Saturday April 1st 2017

Our guest speaker will be Leanne Dospital, Advocate for Service Quality. Leanne will speak about her role and responsibilities.  Here is some information about Leanne from the website.

The Advocate for Service Quality can help you to understand government systems and services and ensure your voice is heard.

The Advocate for Service Quality can help you find supports and services offered by:

  • The B.C. government
  • Community Living BC (CLBC)
  • Health Authorities
  • Community agencies, for example, the Family Support Institute

The Advocate, Leanne Dospital, is appointed by, and reports directly to, the minister of the Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation.

She can answer questions about how what services might be available, how funding decisions are made, eligibility or how to make a complaint if you don’t:

Happy Holidays!

Wishing you all the very best for the Holidays and see you at our next meeting on Saturday January 28th, 2017 at our Westside location at 2006 West 10th (Vancouver Resource Society).

We will be putting on a session on “Housing for People with Disabilities” starting at an earlier time of 10am. This workshop will be held in conjunction with BACI and posAbilities.  Details to follow in the New Year.
