Happy New Year everyone! Please mark your diaries for the Vancouver School Board (VSB) Transition Information Forum, to be held on Thursday January 29th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, at Magee Secondary School. This is a wonderful opportunity to collect information for “what happens after graduation”, including  options such as post-secondary education, employment, ministerial supports, and community inclusion programs for students with diverse abilities. Parents, students with diverse needs, counselors, teachers, support staff, social workers, and community-based support staff are ALL encouraged to attend.

Our Transition Parent Group will also be participating, so come and say Hello, and we can assist you navigating the Forum, depending on the interest of your son or daughter. The forum is FREE to attend for everyone interested, including those not currently attending VSB schools. Transition Information Forum

Next Meeting of the Transition Group

December 10th at 10am

For the next meeting of our Transition Group, we are very pleased to have a Representative from CRA Benefits Outreach Team come to talk to us about various Credits and Benefits available to a Person with a Disability and their Family. This is an important topic and there will be a Q&A period following the presentation, so come with your questions!

The meeting will be at our DDA Kaslo site at 3455 Kaslo St in Vancouver, on Wednesday December 10th at 10am. Please note the CHANGE from the usual time of our Wednesday meetings. Speakers from CRA are only available during the day on weekdays. 

RSVPs are required for this session, as space is limited. In-Person meeting only. This session will NOT be available via Zoom.

Next meeting of the Transition Group / Wednesday May 3rd at 6:30pm

Hi everyone – Looking forward to seeing you at the next meeting of the Transition Group coming up on Wednesday May 3rd at 6:30pm. We will meet at the DDA Kaslo location at 3355 Kaslo Street.

We are planning an Informal Session at this meeting. We will be giving out information on Summer activities (Social and Recreational) for People with Disabilities. This will allow time for families and caregivers to address some individual issues with Yuko, Liz and of course Angela from DDA. So bring your concerns and challenges with you. Of course we would love to hear success stories too!

We have resumed In-Person meetings

Hi everyone – After 2 years of meetings on Zoom, we have resumed In-Person meetings!

Our next meeting is on Wednesday May 11th at 6:30pm. We will be at our Eastside location at the DDA Kaslo hub. 3455 Kaslo Street at 6:30pm

Come and meet Angela Gagne, DDA’s new Family Support coordinator. Angela will introduce herself and then talk to us about Recreational and Social Programs for people with disabilities.
